The emerging Urban Urbane lifestyle brand started long before I knew it was in development, and it became a reality when enough was enough.
My creative career began in the 4th grade when I was tired of being looked over as just the husky kid, so I began competing with a classmate (aka the popular guy) who was known for drawing. Funny, even in my family I had to struggle to be notice so I competed with a cousin to which I availed. I think "Husky" started it all. Clothing brands were never really created for husky. I believe that became my unofficial middle name. It forced me to be more creative and individualist. Time passed and I began an "Academic". According to my mother it was my only job. Dreading the new school year shopping and hearing "where is your husky section", I found ways to earn my own money to buy my own clothing, I found a group of friends in my high school commercial arts class and discovered a sense of bohemian preppie. These friends later became artistic peers in an arts organization named "YA/YA, Inc., it was here we learned how to be entreprenuers.
This experience took me to Europe several times where I was cultured to more art, design and fashion than I would have ever imagined. I experienced a hungry that food could never satisfy. It is this hungry that began the birth of Urban Urbane.
